About Shared History
Shared History, the festival of India in South Africa, evokes the common in our history and heritage and our close socio-political and economic ties.
In its eleven-year long eventful journey, Teamwork Art’s Shared History has covered the vast cultural space of Music, Dance, Theatre, Comedy, Wellness and Food from India. The festival has also encouraged exchanges and collaborations with South African artistes to further shrink the cultural distance between the two countries.
Teamwork Arts and the Indian High Commission in Pretoria are proud that Shared History is today a known and anticipated fixture on the South African Cultural Calendar.
In 2017, India marks 70 years as an independent democratic republic, which despite its staggering diversity reflects an innate sense of ‘Indian-ness’ amongst its people. On the other hand, South Africa, also uniquely diverse, stands for reconciliation and co-existence after many decades of the political and social divide.
Shared History celebrates the spirit of Incredible India and of the rainbow country – South Africa.
The 20-day long Festival will be a bouquet of India’s vibrant culture designed to charm South Africa through the following events:
From Concept to Curation, And Design to Production
The arts of India are unrivalled in their depth, diversity and mystery and showcasing it to global audiences requires a deep understanding of our culture, an acute sense of relevance in programming and an unflinching attention to detail. Above all, we at Teamwork believe in love and respect for the artist.
